HOPE is THE SALVATION OF
THE WORLD. When hope dies, despair and desolation take hold and all is
lost. Hope plus faith in the face of apparent failure can work miracles.
They are developed at first by blind trust in a God Who is loving and
kind. Later, when the view broadens, you see the whole panoramic view of
the Plan of Humankind. Then you know behind all apparent darkness is the
light that will eventually dawn, for evolution cannot be thwarted.
The person with the right-trained mind knows
that the darkest time comes just before the dawn. It is the natural Law
of Rhythm in action. It is natural that when one wishes to jump high,
one crouches down to a low position to get the impetus to soar upward.
So with the events of the Universe. Everything in God's creation is
bound by the same Laws of Nature. Nothing escapes, whether it is the
lowest animal or the greatest being. You all are bound together, lashed
to the raft of Life. The wise learn the laws and use them to their
fullest advantage. The ignorant go through life speaking of ill-luck and
imagining their fellow beings are taking advantage of them, when it is
their own lack of understanding of God's dynamo which sets the Wheels of
Life in motion.
Do not ridicule or condemn these brothers and
sisters who know not. Remember the words of Brother Hilarion,
"Where they are, you have been. Where you are, they will be."
You are in an endless line roped together, scaling the highest peak of
the Sacred Mountain of Truth. When one falls or falters, all are
affected. All are tied together so that each may help the next in case
one should for a moment slip.
Ignorance is a great sin, but greater by far is
the sin of constructive knowledge not used. Have shame, you intellectual
gatherers of knowledge, for the years you have wiled away in
procrastination, always dreaming of the tomorrow when you would start
the New Life, the tomorrow when you would give up the old habits. Fie!
Remember in the climb to Truth one cannot move without the others. Don't
hold up the endless line in back that reaches farther than mortal mind
can conceive. When one moves upward, the whole universe moves.
Your whole race is bound together as one great
family. When someone leaves the fold to pioneer the way, though it be
hard going alone, it helps the whole. Then, having reached the goal,
he/she can wait and beckon, calling out the way. How foolish to ridicule
and call derisive epithets. You are as weak as the weakest link in the
chain of Life. It is for you to help strengthen it with words and
thoughts of wisdom and encouragement. See in all perfection.
Far too many are busy judging others, that they
have not time for self-appraisement. Judge not lest ye be judged. Oft,
what thou dost see in others is but a mirror of thine own self. Cease
this constant ever damning of thy fellow-beings, thy brothers and
sisters, thy very self. Cease gossip, slander, malicious thoughts, smug
smiles when some soul falters and missteps: these will drag thee,
thyself, down into the mud and mire of the earth.
Remember, in thy smugness thou wilt be thrown into the very abyss of
confusion of mind, for thou art chained together. Thou falleth and
faileth where thy brother errs. Thou either fallest with him or he is
raised by thee.
Your race is in the balance. You are the
destiny of your group --- either you plunge downward far into the abyss
below, only to try the ascent once more many centuries hence, or here
and now you make the goal. Which shall it be?
It is up to you strong souls to be stronger
still and hold firm while others pull and tug at the rope. Are you
willing to try a little harder and do the work of two or three, then
later rest? Or do you choose the struggle for existence, life after
life, in seeming endlessness?
This is love, this is charity, to give a
helping hand to less fortunates. When you help another, you help
yourself. Stop thinking in terms of separation --- there is no such
thing. There is always someone below you and someone above you. There is
a race behind and a race ahead. Above the Masters there are higher
beings and so on, ad infinitum. Get the vision, the grandeur, the
bigness of God's plan. Each, in turn, is reaching out a helping hand and
singing praise and encouragement for what is ahead. Will you, too, hold
out your hand to those below you? Stop condemning and develop
compassion. Have love for your brothers and sisters which will give them
Hope. "Forgive them for they know not what they do," spoke
Master Jesus. Learn forgiveness and Love.
Faith, Hope and Love; Faith, Hope and Charity.
Faith opens the door to let the light of Hope shine through, then Love
takes sway. All is possible when Love is in the heart. Have faith in all
creatures. Have hope for the future and love for the transgressor.
"Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against
us."
Gossip and slander are like a chain of evil
passing on the destructive forces, and they increase with repetition,
until they link again with the transmitter. The harm done is so great it
cannot be weighed by human minds. When gossip is passed to you, have no
part of it, rather, see the sender's perfection instead, and bring it
forth. Start a chain of loving thoughts that will return to the sender a
thousand fold, and create in him the Beautiful, thereby helping to
create God's perfect world. |
